El Gouna has large, flat water lagoons, perfect for all levels! The wind is side-onshore, direction North-North West. The water in the lagoon is really warm in the summer, but can get cold in the winter. Temperatures in Egypt can reach high 30s in the summer, and pleasant low 20s in the winter. It is recommended to wear long wetsuits in the winter (December through to April), short wetsuits in Spring and Autumn (May and June/September and October) and a bikini or board shorts and lycra in the summertime (July and August). The tides can drop quite low in the summer and are typically higher in the winter. The lagoon is shallow enough to stand in all areas, but you can also kite in the deep water. The wind is more consistent in the warmer months and tends to be less stable from December through to February. During winter, we tend to get a mix of light and strong wind days. In general, 2 to 3 kite sizes is recommended for your holiday, depending on your weight and level; a 7m, 9m and 12m would have you covered! If you need to be selective, a 9m (for a girl 60kg) is ideal. The kite station itself is extremely well equipped, with a launching and landing area, beach boys to assist on land, compressors to pump the kites, showers and a washing area for equipment, as well as a fully functional restaurant and bar. There is storage for those who have equipment, and rental for those who do not. The beach is spacious and there are plenty of relaxing areas to chill in the sun!
El Gouna is the perfect backdrop for a fabulous kitesurfing holiday. Not only are the conditions excellent for all levels of kitesurfers, the town itself has a lot to offer in terms of sports, no wind activities and nightlife.
We provide professional kitesurfing lessons in a comfortable environment and brand new equipment, with maximum 2 students per instructor. This ensures you get the most out of your lessons! We know all the hot spots, on and off the water. Trust us to organise all the added extras for your holiday to make it special. Even when there is no wind, El Gouna has a lot to offer!
No wind? No problem! El Gouna offers a wide variety of no wind activities, from hiking in the desert mountains, to snorkeling, to wakeboarding, yoga, SUPing and quad safaris.
